The angel Gabriel appeared to St. Joseph in a dream, and he said.
“Get up, and take the Child and His mother and escape into Egypt, and remain there till I tell you, for Herod is going to search for the Child to murder Him.”
St. Joseph taught the angel’s words to Holy Mother Mary, and they loaded the household belongings on the donkeys and started on a journey during the night.
They went to Egypt by way of Gaza, and they spent the four years as a refugee in Egypt until the Herod’s death so that the Lord’s Word through the prophet became fulfilled.
